Ireland’s tánaiste backs call for all-island cancer institute

Micheál Martin give his support to cancer collaboration scheme at Joint Euro-American Forum Ireland’s tánaiste has backed calls for an all-island cancer institute, saying a cross-border approach to cancer research could deliver better outcomes for patients. The scheme would build on the work of the Ireland-Northern Ireland-US National Cancer Institute Cancer Consortium. Speaking at the Joint Euro-American Forum on Cancer last month, Micheál Martin cited successful initiatives under the consortium, such as the All-Island Cancer Research Institute, a partnership of 10 universities led by University College Dublin.
